Tanah Melayu dan Bangsa Malaysia

7 02 2011

Kami berhasrat untuk merekodkan artikel dari JUST MY THOUGHTS, di bawah ini, semoga ianya menjadi panduan, khasnya bagi Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kerajaaan Malaysia pimpinan DS Najib  dalam menggubal dasar-dasar ataupun arahan-arahan Pendidikan bagi membentuk anak bangsa. Seperti kata Tagore, “To build a nation, build a school“, dengan harapan supaya sistem pendidikan negara tidak dilaksanakan secara TUNGGANG LANGGANG begitu rupa hingga mampu membuatkan bahasa Kebangsaan sebagai bahasa asing di bumi sendiri kerana terlalu melayan tuntutan-tuntutan kaum bukan Melayu.

Dr Mahathir says Malaysia is Tanah Melayu

A.Kadir Jasin

What a few days it has been for PM Najib and his UMNO/BN led Government, it started with a good victory in the Tenang by-election, the turmoil in Egypt which moved the Government into action by sending our TUDM Hercules C-130s to rescue thousands of stranded Malaysian students and then Dr. Mahathir lambasting Nik Aziz, Anwar Ibrahim and Lee Kuan Yew at one go. Not quite finished, on 1 February 2011, Dr. Mahathir gave a speech destined to be reported everywhere and commented upon both in the positive and the negative:

Malaysia is Tanah Melayu, says Dr M
By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani February 01, 2011(MI)

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad told Malaysians today to admit that the country belonged to the Malays and accept the culture and language of the dominant community. The former prime minister said that country’s forefathers gave the Chinese and Indians citizenship because they expected the communities to respect Malay sovereignty.

“This country belongs to the Malay race. Peninsular Malaysia was known as Tanah Melayu but this cannot be said because it will be considered racist.

“We must be sincere and accept that the country is Tanah Melayu,” he told an audience at the “Malay race and the future” talk at the Tun Hussein Onn Memorial here.

Dr Mahathir also stressed that non-Malays must accept the concept of “Bangsa Malaysia” (Malaysian nation) to help strengthen national unity.

He said the communities must place country before race and identify themselves as Malaysians.

He said if the communities continue to identify themselves according to the country of origin then it is an admission that they are immigrants in the country.

Dr Mahathir said that all races must accept that they are from “Bangsa Malaysia” to allow better co-operation from the different races and guarantee the future of the country.

He added that Malays will feel less threatened if the country adopts the concept of “Bangsa Malaysia”.

“(Former Philippine President Corazon) Cory Aquino is Chinese but she identified herself as a Filipino. (Former Thai Prime Minister) Thaksin Shinawatra is Chinese but he speaks the Thai language and lives the Thai culture.

“It is different in Malaysia, we still introduce ourselves according to our race. This is why the question of race will continue to haunt us,” he said.

read the rest here.

That Malaysia is Tanah Melayu cannot be doubted as the former colonial powers Portugal, Holland and the Brits have accepted that fact, unless of course one is so filled with irrational hate and fear and could not bear to hear the words “Tanah Melayu”.

I wonder what PM Najib would say about Dr. Mahathir’s speech this time, he is after all the main force behind 1Malaysia and also a great supporter of the devisive vernacular schools. Or will he just keep quiet and let the matter pass?

This is a great post by Datuk Kadir Jasin which complements very well with what Dr. Mahathir had to say on 1 February 2011.  I am reproducing it in full for my record and hopefully to reach other readers as well:

Malaysia Tanah Pusaka Orang Melayu
A Kadir Jasin

-Melayu menentang Malayan Union.

Tuan Rumah Terpaksa Berkongsi Rumah

Kesan Buruk Ekonomi Penjajah

Sekarang Adalah “Masa Depan”

I agree with what Dr. Mahathir and Datuk Kadir have to say about Tananh Melayu and their right to say it.

Lets debunk this utter rubbish about calling people who are defending the rights, dignity and calling for unity of Malays in Malaysia as being racist.

The fact that the content of these articles is Malay-centric is obvious. Are Sabahans and Sarawakians now Malay first and Malaysian second? Ask DPM Muhyiddin. Want unity? Go for Malaysian unity. Most Malaysian aren’t this paranoid.

Sabahan and Sarawakians know what your fearless leader’s “Islamization” policies have done to us. We can’t be proud Malaysians and Christians anymore.

Malay-centric ?
What is wrong with Malays talking facts – undeniable facts when Mahathir is the man who has given definition to modern MALAYsia ? .
What would one called this peninsula land before it was part of Malaysia ?
This was the land of many Sultans and there were administration by each state respective Sultans long before the entire peninsula became known as Federation of MALAYA, before it it became known as Federated Malay States & Non-Federated Malay States, before a part of it became known as The Straits Settlement with western administrative and trade influence and the rest of the land were just left to the Sultans and the then primitive Malay rakyat. Of course this is popular history like those written in our school history textbook.

MALAYA not MALAYSIA came into being by (reluctant) collective mutual consensus between the Malay Sultans of Perak, Pahang Kedah, Selangor, Johor, Terengganu, Kelantan, Raja Perlis, Yamtuan Negeri Sembilan and British Malaya administration who already administered Melaka and Pulau Pinang for many centuries; I don’t need to repeat what they agreed on that makes what we are today. Threat of left wings influences made it attractive for Singapore to join the FEDERATION. Leaders of North Borneo and Sarawak too joined the FEDERATION but the Sultan of Brunei declined. There were no force.

56 years on its citizens are still struggling to understand one another ? What nation building lah ! Popular phrases we hear Chinese money built the country, Indian labor work the country to wealth and the lazy Malays keep ber-dondang sayang, ber-boria, ber-dikir barat, ber-kuda kepang, ber-caklempong, This is very fair to the Malays ??? But being the most tolerant people on earth (yes the Malays are the most tolerant people on earth),the Malays go about their lives and are quite happy indeed that the over 446 years “ber-tuankan orang puteh” were done with. They are happier sharing the land with the invited citizens than “ber-tuankan orang puteh”

Yes historically the lazy Malays planted food for the country, the ever industrious Chinese mined and unearthed the land’s wealth (initially for the orang puteh’s benefit) and the then obedient to orang puteh Indian built facilities and tapped the fertility of the land for the orang puteh to export the land’s wealth under the Commonwealth masks. They all got paid good Straits Dollars generated from the land. The revenue were not brought from India or China.

Frankly I don’t care for thought of being tuan of the land and I believe many Malays don’t too although it was a fact then and is now fast eroding facts. The Malays share and will continue to sharing this country in many ways. To share means one is giving share and another is acquiring share in this Malaysian context. Things become extremely difficult to put in place when one acquiring share having the mentality of one giving the share. That was then. And now we should already have embedded in our heads this sharing business and be content with it. Difficult ??? Hardly, just accept it and move on.

In Thailand every citizens speaks Thai. In Philippines, the same. In Indonesia, the same too. In Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar too it is the same case. Why must Malaysia be an exception ?? We just have to be Malaysian with the Malaysian identity. I think Singapore identity is metropolitan. And I think most (majority) Malaysians are not of this metropolitan mind like many urban folks may believe and they want a Malaysian identity we can be proud of. It is all right being of different ethnic and it is not a problem. But why must we build a wall that divides ? This is incomprehensible ! And it is thought that the Malays is divisive in nature and racist.. Always the Malays ! Really ?? Why not the non-Malays ?

Today we have Malaysian citizens who barely could speak the national Language and think it is the democratically elected government’s fault that they can’t effectively be citizens of Malaysia when they have difficulties dealing with official matters in the national Language. Whose fault again ? Yes very typical. This is indignation to this great country. And still today it is asked upon the government to continue this counter-unity effort to build more and more vernacular institution. Until when ? One one part we want to have unity, one the other we walk away from it.

And since when Malays take Chinese and Indian wealth. Since when ? Do they know what they are talking about of they remember and repeat the phrases taught to them by their elders ? And since when only Chinese and Indians pay taxes and the Malays enjoy use of the taxes paid by them ? These are all damaging unity remarks that must discontinue. And for Mr Simon Chen here, you choose what you want first and no body is stopping you. You can be a Kadazan or Bajau first and Malaysian second and you will not penalized for it. We are already Malaysians when we carry a Malaysian blue identity card. Should this fact be re-emphasized ? You are wise enough, you get Malaysian education; you think !
Hei Chen who is attempting to Islamize who ? You hear this from who ? Why can’t you be proud Malaysians and proud Christians anymore ? If Islam is forced on you, wouldn’t you be a Muslim now and not Christian ? Talk with a little more sense lah orang Borneo ! This is precisely what brings Malaysia down. Plain stupidity.

I have a suggestion to these citizen type. LEARN TO DEVELOP UNDERSTANDING OF THE 5 RUKUNEGARA.

Thank you
