About SSS

Satu Sekolah Untuk Semua (SSS) is a grassroot movement to reset one of the key foundations of our nationhood and create the essence of a united and cohesive Malaysia. There is no other way to forge national integration, national unity and to instill a sense of shared destiny except to vigorously push for a streamlined, singular School System for ALL Malaysians.

Every single one of us, of all origin and ethnicity, must speak in one tongue and undergo the same educational journey as Warganegaras of this land. No single Anak Bangsa Malaysia should be allowed to fall into the communal trap laid by selfish groups and denied the same opportunity as Mainstream Malaysiana. Support SSS for our nation’s future. Do sign the petition. Get your family and friends to sign as well. Lets collectively make SSS a reality for the future of our Tanah Air Tercinta.

Komen anda menguatkan lagi semangat kami menulis.

i think the campaign is great. about time someone stood up and say out with the vernacular schools! as a student myself i find it disbelieving that at this time and age we are still separating the races through the basis of education. 1Malaysia will only remain an impressive slogan until our education is equal. kudos to you!

p.s. i’ve displayed the SSS logo at my blog. i hope others will too🙂

Mia,

We thank you for your support and for displaying the SSS logo in your blog. We would appreciate it if others who have not done so follow suit. We now have over 200 bloggers displaying the logo. We would be pleased for more.

The vernacular schools problem has been there for over 50 years. Allowed by the British during colonial rule, it should have been solved at independence when the Constitution stating Bahasa Malaysia as Bahasa Kebangsaan was adopted. But the leaders at that time, perhaps elated and excited at the idea of ruling ourselves, swept the problem under the carpet. So did leaders after that until now.

The present leadership is bent on appeasing the Chinese for their votes and is not likely to embark on anything drastic such as promptly implementing SSS. But we hope they will realize that their appeasement has not brought the desired results and they will modify their strategy in the light of increased support for SSS. MPM, the Malay consultative body comprising NGOs such as Perkasa, has embraced SSS. In fact, their leader, Dato Ibrahim Ali, was the one who raised the matter and had it discussed in Parliament last year. We need to increase the tempo to get Najib to start action on SSS. He could decide on commissioning an in-depth study on the existing system(s) of education, find out its strengths and weaknesses, and recommend improvement measures for his action later on.

Let us speak about SSS, and issues on unity that SSS aims at, as much as we can from now on. You are also welcomed to participate in the discussions in any of the posts in here anytime.

Didalam keadaan sekarang ini, kami merasa tidak perlu gah, atau “discretion is the better part of valour”, kata pepatah Inggeris.

I am not sure where to insert the link to an interesting article I found while reading the Khaleej Times On-line recently. The article was written by Soros. Though he is a ‘penyangak’ mata wang, but we must not dismiss his other side. Here is the link I want to share with everyone. Take note of his view about ‘….Segregated schooling is a barrier to integration and produces prejudice and failure…’

Annes,

Thank you for providing the link to the billionaire George Soros’ article on the plight of the Roma, a people with nomadic existence, of variously described origins, those in France originating from Romania, Bulgaria etc, who move from one place to another, quite a lot in the affluent countries of western Europe. Many of them are Jews whose earliest origins are traceable to the Middle East, where they were referred to as “cousins” of the Arabs who, hated for their extreme selfishness, not even wanting to share their religion with others over 2,000 years ago, migrated all over the places and kept moving like wandering tribes throughout history. In England they are known as gypsies. True, the Roma have been “persecuted across Europe for centuries”. The famous actor Kirk Douglas, father of an also famous actor Michael Douglas, was a gypsy child whose family migrated to the US and they are Jews.

It is natural for Soros to want to speak for them for he is himself a Jew. He is American but here is an example where racial origin knows no geographical boundaries. He may even be a French or British as well, as many of the rich in the West are known to be having more than one passport, giving rise to questions of loyalty. However these are issues concerning citizenship, sovereignty, nationalism, loyalty and patriotism the lines of which, in Europe, became rather blurred with the formation of the European Union. But it must be appreciated that the EU is an economic union, not a political one, and each country has its own territorial and sovereignty rights within that union. Hence, the French have the sovereign right in sending the Roma back to their country of origin.

Soros is a shrewd man, able to amass vast wealth. But he may not be shrewd in believing that the expulsion of Roma is on the basis of ethnicity and is a “violation of EU directives on racial discrimination and the right to move freely from one EU member-state to another”. The movement of the Roma is not like the kind of travel conceived by the EU directive. Those moving as a circus family may be considered as business travel and gainfully employed. But the vast majority of them are merely wandering from place to place, without any fixed employment or established sources of income. Many are indeed involved in crimes and these are good grounds for the French to deport them.

These are lessons that our country can learn from. Those whom the British colonialists referred to as “transient” may by tradition still have the mentality of merely existing in this country for what it might be worth until they see greener pastures elsewhere and leave. Such people have doubtful loyalty to the country and cannot be expected to be nationalistic and patriotic in their stand. The Government must include loyalty, nationalism and patriotism and respect for the Constitution in the syllabus when History is made compulsory in schools beginning from 2013. We need a citizenry that is committed to this country in heart and soul, and those who are not may not be deterred from migrating. We must have a strong and cohesive Bangsa Malaysia, loyal, nationalistic and patriotic to this country, for lasting peace and prosperity.

Satu Sekolah untuk semua?? …. how about ” semua -sekolah untuk- semua..???
As it is now, some schools are only for certain race. Some schools/ Us use English as meadium of instruction instead of BM..
